Where are you from?

'Where are you from?'
For a multi-generational immigrant, this on the surface simple question opens up a vast archive of displacement and memory. Tracing a lineage of migration across Ukraine, Russia, Israel, and the United States, this work examines the layered, often defensive experience of navigating inherited histories of survival and flight.

By challenging rigid definitions of nationality and origin, the artist embraces a state of being "in-between." Drawing on Vilém Flusser’s concept of homelessness, the work reframes displacement not as a loss, but as a space of complex multiplicity, suggesting that "home" is not anchored to a single geography, but is dynamically constructed through memories, objects, and the enduring connections that bridge them.
