Jenny Rafalson (b. 1986, former USSR) is a photographer and video artist living and working in Chicago and raised in Israel. She is an MFA Candidate, at School of the Art Institute of Chicago(2018-2020), She graduates Hadassah College Bachelor program for Photography and Communications (2009-2013).

Her artistic work is situated on the fine line between the staged and the documentary. Having emigrated with her family from the former USSR to Israel, Rafalson's work revisits both the material and immaterial "baggage" brought by her family to the new land. She uses these "items of baggage" to create carefully staged photographic scenes in an attempt to recreate mundane everyday moments and situations, and by doing so, to retrace her Russian identity which has been denied and marginalised for years since her emigration.
